This project involved the development of a sustainable campus masterplan for the Illinois Math & Science Academy (IMSA), a public high school for students throughout the state of Illinois that display high levels of proficiency in math and/or science curriculum.
The Brook Forest Shoreline Stabilization site is located along Ginger Creek between Midwest Road and Regent Drive, in Oak Brook, IL. The project encompasses two pond shorelines and two stretches of Ginger Creek shoreline.
When we took over the natural areas at Tanglewood Hills from the initial developer, we faced extensive restoration and stewardship of its nearly 50 acres of natural areas. Over the years we have used a mix of stewardship and complete renovation to build a layered four-season landscape. Most of the areas in the subdivision serve as stormwater solutions in addition to common space. The extensive prairies act as a dry bottom detention system in flood events. There are multiple walking paths so that residents can explore and connect with nature.

The design of their new corporate office building gives workers a flexible and sustainable work environment aligned with the company’s brand of being a trusted partner to healthcare providers.
Pizzo & Associates, Ltd. brought back to life this private homeowner’s eight acre property. The land was overgrown with invasive species when we began work here, and our team turned this property into an award-winning site that features natural areas and beautiful sculptures.
Native Landscape Contractors, LLC performed a complete 20-acre wetland, upland and savanna restoration at Roxana Marsh in Gary, Indiana. We removed 12 acres of invasive cattails, Phragmites, and other invasive species as well as contaminated soil from the area. We installed native trees, shrubs, plants, and seed to make this site one of the most diverse areas in the Great Lake Basin.
This branch of Resource Bank in Shabbona, Illinois embraced their natural landscape and contracted ecology + vision, llc to create a master native landscaping plan for their property. Pizzo Native Plant Nursery, LLC supplied the plugs for this project and Native Landscape Contractors, LLC implemented the plan. Resource Bank of Shabbona now has its own piece of prairie.
Since 2001, we have had the privilege of restoring and stewarding portions of the Harbor Springs development in Aurora, IL. The basin is adjacent to an active park and is bordered by a popular walking path and it acts as a stormwater management solution for the surrounding homes.
Regency Oaks maintains both dry bottom detention areas and a basin and since 2007, we have had the responsibility of restoring and stewarding these areas for the Homeowners Association. The owners of the upscale homes enjoy the variety of birds, butterflies and pollinators attracted by the diverse native plant communities.
ecology + vision, llc developed a vegetation monitoring protocol for the Chicago Park District’s natural area sites. The Park District’s selected pilot project in 2012 was the South Shore Nature Sanctuary on the south side of the city along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
